STATE LICENSE INFORMATION

To practice athletic training in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, each professional must apply for a state license.  This includes all practicing athletic trainers who are BOC certified, even those classified as graduate assistant athletic trainers and athletic trainers who perform seasonal work in Kentucky (i.e. professional sports team affiliates, summer camp coverage, etc).  Eligibility includes successfully passing the national certification examination from the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) and being in good standing with the BOC.  The state license is granted by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.  Prior to being granted a state license, all applications are reviewed by the Advisory Council on Athletic Trainers. The mission of the Kentucky Athletic Trainers' Society is to promote growth, understanding, and advancement of the athletic training profession.  We strive to enhance the quality of healthcare to the physically active. As an organization, we serve as a source of continuing education and research while serving the common interests and needs of the membership.
